Thank You CIHC

Although building a Habitat house takes only eight weeks, the Cobb Interfaith Habitat Coalition is active all year around. They just kicked off 2015 with an organizing meeting for their upcoming build which begins on June 27, 2015.

At this meeting, they gathered commitments of volunteers and collected funds from their member organizations and from the companies who collaborate with them. They chose team leaders, determined who will be assigned to bring lunch for the volunteers on each day of the build and set up a volunteer recruiting schedule for each organization.
They also designed a T-shirt three years ago that is printed in a different color each year and then sold to their volunteers as a way to raise funds for their build.

The build season is the busiest part of the year, with around 25 volunteers coming out on seven Saturdays and two Sundays. On the eighth and final Saturday, 40 volunteers are on site to do the landscaping. After each build is completed, the coalition members start all over again and begin planning for the next year. They are highly committed to affordable housing and have been building houses with this affiliate for over a decade. Thank you CIHC!
