Habitat Hustle 5K A Success!

Last Saturday, April 20, at 8 am, 58 runners put on race numbers to run in the Habitat Hustle 5K at Allatoona Creek Park. The entrants and spectators had perfect weather, even if the ground was still a little wet from an earlier storm. Everyone enjoyed the event tremendously.

Congratulations to Daniel Willis who was fastest with a time of 19 minutes and 48 seconds. Medals were given for the top three finishers in men’s, women’s and high school leagues. Of course, we know that in this case, EVERYONE was a winner!

Top to bottom, left to right: Men’s League: 1st Daniel Willis, 2nd Brad Smith, 3rd Erik Spear. Women’s League: 1st Fay Willis, 2nd Cindy Newell, 3rd Jennifer Smith. High School League: 1st Adam Whitney, 2nd Oliver Harding, 3rd Jackson Ostell.

The Habitat Hustle 5k was conceived and organized by Madison Locke, for her senior project at Cornerstone Prep Academy. She organized a location, found sponsors, designed a T-shirt, set up an on-line signup page and solicited participants. She even had to deal with bad weather and rescheduling the event! Her event had 115 people sign up, and raised a total of $2,348 for NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.

Madison would like to acknowledge the support of her many fabulous sponsors (Publix, Kennesaw First Baptist Church, Ellster, Habitat for Humanity, Cornerstone Prep Academy, Home Depot, Big Peach Running Company, Dearth and Galat, Digital Rio, and MJM) and to thank all the wonderful people who helped organize the event and who participated in the event. Together, all these wonderful people raised $2,308 for NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity 2019 Veteran Build.

Thank you one and all!
