Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Habitat for Humanity requires that volunteers are at least 16 years old to participate while it is an active construction site. 14 is the minimum age for individuals participating in landscaping activities. All minors under 18 years old must have a signed parent permission form.

We offer volunteer construction opportunities only on Saturdays from 8am-4pm.

No, NW Metro Atlanta does not allow the volunteer shifts to be separated into morning or afternoon shifts. All volunteers must be able to commit for the entirety of the 8am-4pm shift.

Lunch is typically provided during the volunteer day. We recommend individuals with allergies or  special dietary restrictions to bring their own lunches.

If you are unable to attend your volunteer shift for whatever reason, please contact the volunteer services coordinator as soon as possibly at volunteers@habitatnwma.org. Failure to communicate will result in a “no-show”. Three no-shows will result in you being removed from the volunteer mailing list.

All opportunities that are password protected have been reserved by our build sponsors who are utilizing their own volunteers. If there is a need for more volunteers, a public sign-up will be created and titled “open registration”.

Yes, NW Metro Atlanta offers court-ordered community service on Saturdays only for a maximum of 6 hours. Learn about our criteria and process to schedule your service opportunity at Community Service.
