Since 2010, NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity has been a "green" builder. Our green building program serves as a blueprint for healthy, comfortable homes that reduce utility bills and protect the environment.
Building Green Homes
Building a "green" home is about constructing a healthy, more valuable home while minimizing its environmental impact. Our green building program follows a systems approach to home-building that stresses an understanding of how the different components of a home work together. Green built homes perform better, are more economical for homeowners to operate and cost little more to build than a comparable home built using standard construction practices.
EarthCents Energy Efficient Homes
Since 2012, we’ve participated in the EarthCents program sponsored by Georgia Power. An EarthCents new home has a variety of energy-efficient features like superior insulation, high-performance windows, tight construction and tight ducts, more efficient heating and cooling equipment, and third-party independent testing. As a result, it performs better for the homeowner and the environment. The homeowner saves energy and money year after year.
