Future homeowner Vernita is always willing to lend a helping hand, a quality that has allowed her to create a family environment at work as a General Manager at McDonalds where she has worked for 21 years. She chose this role because it gave her the flexibility to spend time with her energetic and bubbly daughter Diamond - who is now 21.

The family lives in a Villa Rica apartment where the living conditions bring stress to the life they have built for themselves. Vernita didn’t think she would be able to afford the down payment on a home, but now that she is approved for Habitat for Humanity’s affordable homeownership program, she is so excited to have a place to call home – where she can spend time outside doing yard work.

Vernita and Diamond look forward to new energy and new blessings thanks to this opportunity for a new home sponsored by the Cobb Interfaith Habitat Coalition.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in nearly 1,400 communities throughout the U.S. and in nearly 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower.
