A Word from a New Homeowner

Laryea FamilyMy name is Matty and we started construction on my Habitat home this past Saturday. I am an African American originally from Accra Ghana (West Africa). I have lived in the United States for almost a decade. I am currently working full time. I am also going to school part time. I have always had the passion to save lives. My goal in the next few years is to graduate as a clinical laboratory technologist. I like to read fiction and watch reality television sometimes.

I am a single mother with two beautiful amazing twin girls in elementary school. They take school seriously, as education is a major priority to my family. I always encourage them to be the best out of all. My daughters are wonderful and have a great sense of humor. They are humble, respectful and God fearing. They are such a blessing and I am so proud of them. We come from a strong Christian background. Faith is an important tradition to me and my family. We attend our local church every Sunday and my daughters go to children’s service. They are always excited to be at church.

Moving into a new home will mean everything to us. The environment we are living in presently is very frustrating, scary and unsafe. The crime and waywardness is not good for my daughters’ upbringing.  We are looking forward to the good opportunities that are coming our way.

On behalf of my family and myself, I would like to say a big thank you to NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and our house sponsor, Commissions, Inc. May God bless you all abundantly for your hard work, time, encouragement, money and support for those in need. The Lord shall reward you all according to his wishes. Victory and prosperity shall be your portion. Amen.
