She received the 2010 Bob Webber Award for Creativity because she designed a wash station for “Paint Day” that helps save paint brushes and pails. The wash station also saves the environment by preventing waste water used for cleaning from running down into the storm sewers. In 2012, she was a recipient of the Roy Brumley Golden Hammer Award for outstanding service to the “gray ghosts” and work on the builds.

What she likes about Habitat is the whole concept of a “hand up and not a handout” and she admires the high quality of our homes. Her favorite part of the build is how the homeowner, House Leader and volunteers achieve a sense of community among all. She said, “The work is fun, but it is the people who make it so enjoyable. It brings back a sense of community that we have lost. The fast pace of the world makes us forget it takes community to make civilization.”
