Our Partners – Thrivent Financial and Lutheran Coalition

DSC8379cropSmyrna, GA (April 4, 2016) – NW Metro Atlanta Habitat has received an award from Thrivent Financial and the Lutheran Coalition to build a new Habitat home for a qualified local Cobb County family. Thrivent Financial has renewed its national Habitat for Humanity partnership for 2016 with a $12 million financial commitment. Since the national partnership began in 2005, Thrivent Financial and its members have committed $226 million and 4.7 million volunteer hours around the world.

“It is inspiring to work alongside Habitat families, Thrivent members and others to build and repair homes,” said Ward Irvin, a financial representative with Thrivent Financial. “Sharing our time and talents helps us live generously and strengthen our community.”

The ten churches participating in the 2016 Lutheran Coalition build are: Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cross of Life Lutheran, Faith Lutheran, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Holy Trinity Lutheran, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Prince of Peace Lutheran, Rivercliff Lutheran, St. Luke Lutheran and Timothy Lutheran. Since it was formed in 1993 the coalition has built 25 houses with Habitat affiliates.

”As a Christ centered organization we are motivated by God’s word in James, chapter 2: “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you have faith but do not have works?… and I, by my works, will show you my faith.” states Don Snyder, 2016 Chairperson.

“We are extremely grateful to Thrivent Financial and the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for their continued support of Habitat for Humanity,” said David McGinnis, President and CEO of NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. “Because of this generosity, more families will have a safe, affordable place to call home.”
