NW Metro Atlanta Habitat to Dedicate Three Homes to Veterans

Photo Aug 29, 10 08 39 AMSmyrna, GA (November 6, 2015) – NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and its sponsors will dedicate three new home builds to veterans in Cobb County. The first dedication will take place on Nov. 7 in Powder Springs, GA and two more will take place on Nov. 14 in Austell, GA.

Corporate sponsors KeyBank Foundation, Novelis, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, Nissan North America and Travel and Transport will dedicate their build to US Army veteran Donnell Davis and his two daughters, ages 8 and 10 (names withheld) on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. in Powder Springs, GA.

The dual dedication of two side-by-side Habitat homes will take place on Nov. 14 in Austell, GA with the Cobb Catholic Coalition, Citi Retail Services and Wells Fargo dedicating their homes to a veteran couple (names withheld) and another veteran homeowner Rosa Haynes.

Novelis, the world leader in rolled aluminum products, delivering unique solutions for the most demanding global applications, such as beverage cans, automobiles, architecture and consumer electronics, joined NW Metro Atlanta Habitat as a new house sponsor for a second year in 2015.  Employees from the Novelis Global Research & Technology Center in Kennesaw will volunteer to work on the house for two days.

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company has supported NW Metro Atlanta Habitat’s affordable housing ministry for over a decade, helping to build a new home each year.  Lockheed has remained a staunch supporter and good neighbor throughout recent years when the company’s philanthropic focus shifted to STEM education.

Nissan North America through actively promoting volunteerism and funding home building projects led by Habitat for Humanity, Nissan is committed to making housing affordable in the communities where their employees and customers live.  2015 marks 10 years of partnership with Habitat for Humanity International.  This year they are partnering for the first time with NW Metro Atlanta Habitat on a team-build day in Cobb County–welcome!

Travel and Transport is the fifth largest travel management company in the United States, servicing clients throughout the country, as well as globally.  Travel and Transport is another local business that has an official relationship with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI); they are partnering with NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for the first time this year–welcome!

The Cobb Catholic Coalition is made up of six catholic churches: Catholic Church of St. Ann, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Clare of Assisi, Holy Family, St. Joseph and Transfiguration.  For 20 years, a handful of Catholic Churches in Cobb County have built homes for deserving families in need of decent housing.  As of 2015, these churches and their generous parishioners have contributed $1 million to meet the overwhelming need for affordable housing in Cobb.

Wells Fargo has partnered with NW Metro Atlanta Habitat since 2008, supporting the building of 15 affordable new houses in Cobb County during that time.
