NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Honors Local Businesses and Community Partners

IMG_6485Smyrna, GA (Sept. 24, 2015) – NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity honored its business and community sponsors for their dedication and service at the inaugural 2015 Keys to Hope Celebration held on Sept. 23 at Brawner Hall in Smyrna.

“The support we receive each year from businesses and the community is vital to Habitat’s mission,” said David McGinnis, president and CEO. “Their dedication to our affiliate has helped us provide affordable housing in Cobb, Douglas and Paulding counties. It is only fitting we honor them for their dedication and service.”

The reception recognized corporate sponsors Assurant, Citibank, Georgia Anesthesiologists P.C., Heidleberg USA, The Home Depot, KeyBank, Munich RE, Nissan North America, Novelis and SunTrust Banks. The event also recognized the Cobb Catholic Coalition, Cobb Interfaith Coalition and the Cobb High School Coalition as community sponsors.

Guests heard from homeowners Edna and Larry Carr whose NW Metro Atlanta Habitat home was sponsored by SunTrust Banks. They shared their story of the affiliate helping them to achieve their longtime dream of becoming homeowners.

“Every single week for eight weeks, volunteers came to support this build. ” said Edna. “You helped build a house, but you gave us a home. You all made this dream possible.” The Carrs currently live in Mableton.

McGinnis also recognized the commitment of the longtime partners who have made substantial impacts through sponsorships and volunteerism. Assurant constructed its 12th Habitat house this year, which was dedicated in June. Heidelburg USA kicked off the 2015 build in February making it the company’s sixth home for the affiliate.

“This longevity proves how meaningful sponsoring and building a Habitat home can be not only for the family who its for, but for the employees or coalition members,” McGinnis said. “Volunteering engages employees and community members and fosters team building and camaraderie. It makes for rewarding experiences and lasting relationships.”
