No More Mortgage

1998 was a busy year for Elaine. She was working at a hospital. She started building her own home with Habitat. As part of her sweat equity, she also worked on three other Habitat homes. She got two dogs. She and her sons moved into their new home.

She learned a lot about construction during that year. It gave her the experience and confidence to maintain and improve her own home. Her recent projects included installing a new faucet, building flower stands, creating a cobblestone patio and making steps for her new little dog to have a view out her front window.

Last month she made her last mortgage payment. She was so excited that she finally owned her home free and clear. She paid off early so that she could focus on starting a new business, selling body scrubs and foot scrubs.

She had some advice for the rest of us. "Just believe. By the grace of God, all things are possible."
