Major Corporations Kick Off NW Metro Atlanta Habitat Build with US Army Veteran

Photo Aug 29, 10 08 39 AMAtlanta, GA (August 29, 2015) – KeyBank Foundation, Novelis, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company and Nissan North America will break ground on August 29, 2015 to begin work on a home for US Army veteran Donnell Davis and his two daughters, ages 8 and 10 (names withheld).

Davis served on combat tours in Kuwait and Iraq, and now lives in Cobb County.

The devoted single dad is actively involved with his girls’ schools and serves as the president of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). He started a Greeters Group where parents welcome and send off children everyday at school to show the positive roles men can play in the community, and also leads a boys mentoring group.

The four major corporations teamed up with NW Metro Atlanta Habitat to further the mission of affordable housing and give Davis a chance to live in a safe and decent home while raising his two girls. Davis also has another daughter, who currently lives in Tennessee, but spends summer vacations and holidays with him.

“Donnell is a true example of someone who gives. With his service to our country and now to our community, it is important that we find a way to take care of him and his family,” says David McGinnis, CEO of NW Metro Atlanta Habitat. “With our gracious sponsors KeyBank Foundation, Novelis, Lockheed Martin and Nissan North America, we are excited to be able to build a home for Donnell and his daughters.”

The new home will be dedicated on November 7, right before Veteran’s Day.
