Lending Many Helping Hands

Volunteers Bulding Habitat HouseTo celebrate Valentine’s Day, NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity spread the love for a Mableton mother and her six-year-old daughter by starting the build on their new home. The day, part of the Hearts and Hands for Habitat event, also kicked off the affiliate’s 2015 building season. Over 30 volunteers and the Habitat family raised and sheeted the exterior walls. Over the course of eight Saturdays, more volunteer teams provided by the build’s sponsors will get the home ready for the dedication ceremony on April 25. Since 1986, NW Metro Atlanta Habitat has built over 400 homes in the tri-county area. The affiliate’s homeowners have also volunteered over 40,000 hours to help build Habitat homes and have attended classes that teach skills for financial literacy and successful homeownership. The Hearts and Hands for Habitat build is sponsored by Munich American Reassurance Company, Wells Fargo, First United Methodist Church of Marietta, Heidelberg USA and Georgia Anesthesiologists, P.C. for Kennestone Hospital.
