Kevin Daffon: Crew Leader

v

We were delighted to welcome back Kevin Daffon as a crew leader this year. He is a 22-year-old Georgia Tech student who used to volunteer for us back in 2010 and 2011 when he was a student at Wheeler High School and a member of the Wheeler’s Habitat for Humanity Club. Wheeler High is a member of the Cobb High School Coalition, which has been building houses with our affiliate for close 20 years.

Kevin started fundraising and building as an underclassman at Wheeler. He eventually became co-president of the club. He remembers thinking how great it was to get to build and to learn from Habitat mentors like Mike Christian. At dedication ceremonies he’d see the joy on the new homeowner family’s faces and realized the impact he had on people’s lives.

Although Kevin is busy as a Mechanical Engineering major/Industrial Design minor, he has remained active as a Habitat volunteer and has worked on various builds in the Atlanta area. While volunteering last year, he was invited to return as a Crew Leader. Crew Leaders teach volunteers how to do various jobs on the site. His first Crew Leader experience just happened to be this year’s Cobb High School Coalition build!

Kevin says he loves to volunteer. His family worked together on many construction projects around their own house, including plumbing, cabinets, lighting, flooring and decking. He is happy to pass that knowledge on. He believes that Habitat is a great way to help others and learn new skills. He invites you to come out and see for yourself.
