(Marietta Daily Journal, Friday, 2 June 2017, exerpt) Publix Super Market employees around metro Atlanta joined together to build a new Habitat home with Smyrna-based NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Construction on the house began on May 20 in Powder Springs.
This Habitat house, funded by Publix Super Market Charities, is part of their $5.5 million commitment to Habitat for Humanity affiliates within Publix’s footprint throughout the southeast.
Publix’s founder, George Jenkins, established the Foundation to improve life in communities.
“We believe Habitat for Humanity exemplifies that mission and we are pleased to play a part in their efforts,” said Kelly Williams-Puccio, executive director.
“We can’t wait to meet you guys and say our thanks over and over and over again,” said the new homeowner, “We look forward to creating a wonderful home together.”
